Plastic film extrusion & lamination
Process challenge
Uneven cooling after extrusion often causes thickness variation, curling or inconsistent surface gloss; lamination needs a stable, even temperature to keep bonding quality consistent.
Typical approach
A spiral circulation cooling roll is commonly used to remove heat, with a thermal-fluid roll providing stable heating. The surface can be given a standard or mirror finish depending on the required appearance.
Key points when specifying
- Cooling or heating, and the medium (water / chilled water / thermal fluid)
- Face diameter, face width and line speed
- Surface treatment (standard or mirror within Ra 0.02mm)
- Temperature uniformity required (about 2°C on a 4-metre roll)
