FAQ
Common questions about specifying and ordering industrial rollers. If your case is not covered here, please contact us with your process conditions.
What roller sizes can you manufacture?
Our current manufacturing range is approximately Ø150–600mm in diameter and 500–4000mm in length. Final feasible dimensions are confirmed against the drawing, material and process conditions.
Can you make rollers to our drawing? What options are available?
Yes. Common options include material (seamless steel tube, welded steel tube, SUS304, alloy steel), internal structure (water channel, spiral, hole-drilled, double jacket), surface treatment (hard chrome plating, patterned, rubber covering, Teflon), temperature control (electric heating, water cooling, chilled water, thermal-fluid heating), plus hardness and accuracy requirements.
Should we choose a spiral or a hole-drilled internal structure?
In general, a spiral structure guides the medium along the roll body through a spiral channel; it is relatively simple and suits most general heating or cooling needs. A hole-drilled structure forms dense channels just beneath the working surface, bringing the fluid closer to the surface — often chosen where temperature uniformity is more demanding, or where a plant thermal-fluid boiler is used to save electric heating. The right choice depends on working temperature, medium, speed and accuracy requirements; please share your process conditions and we will advise.
How uniform is the surface temperature?
According to our product data, temperature variation on a 4-metre roll can be controlled within about 2°C for both cooling and heating. Actual variation still depends on the medium, flow rate, speed and process conditions.
What surface hardness and grinding accuracy can you achieve?
Hardness can be achieved by quench-and-temper, high-frequency (about 2mm deep) or medium-frequency (about 5mm deep) treatment. For example, the thermal-fluid hole-drilled roll reaches HRC54–58 at 5mm depth; the ultra-hardened anvil roll reaches HRC65–67 at 3–5mm depth after heat treatment. For grinding accuracy, the anvil roll can meet within 0.002mm, and the hole-drilled roll can be heat-ground to within 0.005mm under special accuracy requirements.
What surface treatments are available, and how fine is the mirror finish?
Available treatments include hard chrome plating, mirror finishing, engraved patterns, rubber covering and Teflon. Mirror finishing can reach within Ra 0.02mm, suitable for processes with appearance or gloss requirements.
What inspections are performed before delivery?
Dynamic and static balancing and hydrostatic testing can be arranged on request; accuracy items such as parallelism, roundness and concentricity can be specified. Please state the required inspection items and grades with your inquiry.
What information should we provide for a quotation?
Please provide: (1) roller dimensions (face diameter, face width, overall length, journal diameter) (2) application and process (3) material (4) internal structure (5) surface treatment (6) temperature control method and working temperature (7) hardness and accuracy requirements (8) balancing and hydrostatic test requirements (9) quantity. A drawing, if available, helps us respond faster.
Do you export?
Yes — we have experience supplying export markets. Please state the destination and delivery terms with your inquiry, and we will advise on packing and shipping for your case.
What is the typical lead time?
Lead time depends on the workpiece: size, internal structure, surface treatment and hardness requirements all change the machining hours involved, so there is no single figure. Send us the specification or drawing and we will assess your actual case and reply.
Can existing rollers be repaired or reground?
Yes — we provide repair and regrinding for existing rollers. Please send photos of the current condition, a drawing or a description of the issue (you can upload them directly with the inquiry form) and we will assess the feasible approach.
Need a roller quote?
Send us the roller size, application, material and temperature-control needs, and we will reply with a quote.
